Exploring the Potential of Design Thinking in Planning for Teaching & Learning


This PD will be offered in Term 3, 2017. Dates pending.

One initial introductory 30min session then three 1 hour sessions will be run in negotiation with participating teachers, year level and subject teams.  These will be scheduled during either common spares, or before and after school.  The purpose of this is to work one on one with participants/teams as they structure their unit planning document from the ground-up.

This opportunity is available to individual teachers and/or subject/year level teams (PP-12) who are wishing to develop/refresh future unit planning incorporating Design Thinking

The Course

This professional development provides individuals and teaching team’s further opportunities to consider the possibilities and build on previous understandings of design thinking within their teaching. It is open to those who have not previously explored Design thinking and also will provide support for those who want to explore design thinking further within their units. Over the course you will be led through a means in which you can apply the Design Thinking Dimensions (Engage, Ideate & Prototype) to work with discipline knowledge in different ways. Incorporated within this, we will look into how the learning activities and environment all work together to foster Design Thinking dispositions and mindsets within your students.
