Learning is a process, not a thing. Like anything organic, if we want schools to blossom into a vibrant, diverse learning ecosystem, we must have the ‘goldilocks’ conditions: a vision, shared responsibility, and the students at the heart of all decision making. The aim of any educational institution should be to become a talent hatchery for staff and students, learning together for mutual gain through disciplined collaboration and shared responsibility.

In 2013 the Heads of Learning, with the support of the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning and the Manager of Teaching and Learning, undertook a Learning Scan, a careful and considered exploration of the teaching and learning dispositions being cultivated at St Paul’s and an evaluation of existing practice. This lead to some clear recommendations being drawn up for our ongoing focus, to help engage our students deeply in learning, support colleagues to continue to collaborate and share great ideas while we strive to achieve the best possible wellbeing and outcomes for all involved.
